What was the goal?
This was a freelance software development job where a company wanted an app where they could view the different products available for sale. The app was meant for ease of use for the company’s sales team and had to be connected to the company’s existing SQL and SAP databases.
What was the output?
I ended up creating a mobile app that displayed all items in a searchable catalogue for users to view. The app drew information from the companies SQL and SAP databases in order to display all the items available.
I also implemented a login system that was also tied to the companies databases, meaning that only employees could sign in and access the information and anyone else wouldn't be able to create an account. The app ended up being an extremely valuable asset to the sales team due to how convenient it was for them to use.
Takeaways
This project was my first time working freelance as a software developer, and it taught me a lot about meeting the client and company's needs. It was also my first time developing a mobile app with Expo and React Native, and I learned a lot about using the software!
